Totally agree with you, in this case it isn't a need.

Because the applet/notif is just a start, an entry point. I would  create
other tools attached on this applet/notif, like for example a way to create
with a


So : with a GUI a lircd.conf file. If it's write in python, I think it can
be reuse in Elisa with a plugin very quickly, just change gtk with an other
toolkit.
But you think a notif is a better choice... What do you think about the
scripting ? To distribute easily this app ?
