I'm running a G-4 with Jaguar and an old 7100 with 8.6 and emailer on it. They are networked and it works great. I have set the 7100 as a communications computer as I use it also as my Fax machine.
I have an old program called YoYo. I run my telephone line through the 7100 and YoYo pages me whenever I get a phone call and sends me the number of the person calling. There is no reason to get rid of the 7100 it runs old Mac programs that will never be available for OS X.
