This isn't really going to work, because Emailer lacks any direct way of
importing and exporting mail (with the single exception of a one way
transition from Emailer 1.x format to 2.x format).

So a fresh install won't get you anything.

My recommendation would be to take the time to go thru and fix your
orphaned folders. That may mean creating new ones, moving mail to them,
and deleteing old ones. Or it may be as simple as dragging mail and
folders around... can't say without more knowledge of what you consider
"orphaned".

Once you have everything cleaned up and in its correct place again, I
would then do a "Typical" rebuild of the database. This may result with a
few more items being orphaned... in which case, repeat the cleanup of the
new items and then rebuild again.

You will eventually end up with a properly set up database, no orphans,
and it will survive a rebuild. At that point, you can go ahead and
repoint your mail actions as needed (in case some folders used were
deleted). And you should be able to then archive your email to one of the
archive solutions out there. (which I would recommend, yes people safely
keep very large databasese, but really, do you NEED all that email in
there? If not, archive it out. It will speed up Emailer)
