You're missing the point here. Mail.attbi.com isn't a problem. You are getting to the server just fine. The server is what is telling you that the services are unavailable. What you need to verify is the part in your account field BEFORE the @ sign. >> Are you sure about the password. > >Yes, otherwise, I could not get mail the other 90% of the time could I? Ok, so it does in fact work from Emailer 90% of the time with this account? That's good... that reinforces the fact that your settings are all correct (if they were wrong, they would be wrong ALL the time). >>Possibly... but for sake of argument, you need to try OE to see what >>happens. Does it issue the same errors or can it connect? It seems odd >>that the server would STILL be down this whole time for you. If in fact >>it was this unreliable, other users would be complaining as well. > >It's intermittent. It will say try again....and then give errors for a >while and then not........weird. For example I have no errors right now. Ok, OE has the same 10% failure rate for this account. That's good. Now you have ammo to go after their tech support... but you need a little more to make sure you drive it home. >>I'm >>showing 4 different servers that respond to mail.attbi.com. Have you >>tried hitting them via the IP address rather than DNS? > >Tell me how to do this and I'll try........I am too sick with the flu to >think right now....... Its sounding a lot like one of the 4 servers is broken. So what you need to do is try hitting each server one at a time. To do this, replace the "mail.attbi.com" with the IP numbers that were resolved. >>mail.attbi.com 216.148.227.71 >>mail.attbi.com 204.127.202.7 >>mail.attbi.com 63.240.76.7 >>mail.attbi.com 204.127.198.7 Try each of the 4 one at a time. You will probably find that 3 of them work fine, one will give you that error. Wait a while, try the bad one again. If it still fails, contact their tech support, tell them what you have found (if it works, try all 4 again and see if any fail... it might be intermittent, in which case give up and live with it, you will never convince them there is a problem). Deny that you have Emailer... only claim to be using OE. Ask them to attempt to collect mail from the specific IP address that is bad. If they say they don't know how, ask to talk to someone that does know how. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
