I have been complaining about this for ages, but to date, nothing has
been solved. They claim it's settings in Emailer, but mail.attbi.com is
about as clear and simple as you can get for pop and smtp.
I was lucky to get a tech on their online chat today who said he was a
Mac user and so I was "in good hands".
Guess what?
I got the same old story --- we can not troubleshoot anything but OE.
So, just to humor him, I opened OE, quickly configured in the attbi.com
account and my chat applet suddenly would not work, producing garbage
characters everytime I tried to type something to him......geesh.
Anyway, I never got these errors in my log before, but now I am beginning
to think this is in the same category as the "wrong password" errors that
AOL sometimes gives when it is not true. (Although once I had really been
reset, but that is another story -- so it makes me nervous when I see
that...)
The funny thing is, OE doesn't give ANY error when this happens.
I have been saying to them, how much clearer can the following be?
Execution of Schedule "USERNAME" at Tue, Oct 2002 7:48:05 AM
Connecting to Internet using Account "USERNAME"
Checking email account "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
** Pop server error "-ERR mail storage services unavailable, wait a
few minutes and try again."
This has only happened since att broadband took over mediaone.net so
there MUST be something on their servers that is sending back the busy or
unavailable messages.
NOTE: NONE of my other 45 accounts through different domains and ISPs
which USE the attbi.com connection ever do this (except for the AOL ones)
so that is further a mystery. It's only when I try to pick up the mail
from the cable names DIRECTLY.........<sigh>
