A well thought out response. Not taking sides here. I was speaking with
an old friend the other day. He uses system 6 still. Just won't go for
all the nonsense that Apple put into system 7. The way he sees it, he can
still write his articles (he's a writer) with what he has. He admitted
setting up system 7 because of it's TCP/IP capabilities, when he
absolutely has to.

Apple has (almost) always been ahead of the curve, technologically, IMHO.
And along that journey, sometimes some of us dig in and say, Woah, this
is far enough. And that's OK with me.

For myself, not yet on X, I am looking forward to it because my computer
experience and attention is about innovation, as well as creativity, as
well as figuring a way to make a buck. I am still fascinated by where the
crowd is headed, technologically, in the Mac world.

I have long disliked having to explain my position to seemingly ignorant
if downright hostile clerks and computer geeks because I was on the Mac
platform. Computers are about creating, manipulating and sharing
information. From where I sit, it looks like the Mac world is moving,
with increasing speed and relish, to system X. I want to share
information with that world too.

I have no angst over those who are either not ready, or wholly unwilling
to look over the next horizon in the Mac world. When I think of someone
voicing an opinion about how they will never touch 10, I think of my
friend using 6, and I smile. These Macs seem to last forever. Nothing
wrong with that if innovation doesn't float your boat.
