OS X (as we know it today) is barely 2 years old. OS 9, and the UI that you love is 20 years old. How can you POSSIBLY expect OS X to have every feature from OS 9 that you love, right now, right away. It takes time to put this stuff into place. Many things need other things to build off of. There is still foundation work being done, and Apple is addressing what they can as fast as they can, in the order they feel is best for all involved (sorry, but TWAIN scanner support is probably 100x more important to the general Mac community than WindowShade is... as well as some new gimicy sales features, after all if they can't sell Macs there's no point to any of this. So yes iTunes and its likes take top seat, because they generate more new sales than bringing back some older UI features will) Yes, there will be some UI changes (such as the relocation of the close, minimize, and zoom boxes all to the same side). But I suspect that most everything people want to see make it back, will be back. (ie: spring loaded folders are back in 10.2, and I am sure windowshade is hot on its tail). And what doesn't make it back can be handled by 3rd party developers, just like almost all of them were at one point in the past. (Go ahead, bitch that you don't want 3rd party software, you want it rolled into the OS... and when Apple listens to you, they piss off a ton of 3rd party developers because they are stealing away their market... you should have SEEN the commotion iCal caused in some of the developer forums... So you can't please everyone.
