well.. these 'freak' occurences
seem to be happning to a LOT of people - not just myself -
at least as far as the posters on a number of lists and newsgroups seem
to have found.

prove to me that the existing install of X on my system is bad -
and better - why
and what should have been done (should be done in the future) during
installs to resolve these issues before hand
Should I:
stand on my head and spin around 3 times?
only install on a machine newer than 2001?
reformat every dirve in the machine?
what will make every single installation work - period, no questions, no
problems?
I maintain the answer is:
nothing
what will make every single installation work (85% of the time) - period,
no questions, no problems?
I *still* maintain the answer is:
nothing
50% - the answer I seem to have found is run 'archive and install' or run
the full install which wipes the drive.
BUT - a 50% sucess rate is NOT reasonable

what is the anwser there?
is it do not install anything other than what came in the OS?
only Apple apps?

if it don't work - it dont work
and at this point - myself and many others find X don't work.
X functions very similarlly to a winblows environment -
- it works sometimes but not always, or it did yesterday but not now,
maybe tomorow?
- or in specific, tightly controlled hardware/software configurations
- but it does not work in the general environment
X is not ready - it might be - someday (maybe soon) but not now.
