Thanks Chris for the detail.

In case anyone is still curious about this, 
I was told they'd open in Explorer, but no way... 
 this .xml stuff only opens on the server that runs these things, cause 
the code asks for stuff such as:

<document 
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"; 
    xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="../../xsl/_common/normal.xsd">
