This comment made me think perhaps I should have looked up _my_ query about translating Word using Appleworks in my manual rather than bother the list with an OT question. So I just checked in my manual "Appleworks 6 - The Missing Manual" and realized that I had already read the 2 paragraphs devoted to the subject when I first got the app - the 2 paragraphs that informed me that Appleworks 6 no longer included MacLinkPlus - thus my misunderstanding all these years about my ability/inability to translate such documents - I had had no pressing need so I took their word for it, filed the information vaguely away and looked no further. This little epiphany reminded me of why we like using lists for products that aren't orphaned - they work better than the manuals!
