If you followed the Baton Mail setup directions, you are using 
"localhost" as your SMTP server in Emailer. Don't do that. Instead use 
"127.0.0.1". The localhost DNS entry doesn't appear to work by default in 
OS X (no idea why since it is a normal part of *nix host file setup, or 
at least I was under that impression). I could tell you how to get the 
localhost name to work in OS X... but it is MUCH MUCH easier to just use 
127.0.0.1 which means the same thing and doesn't need a hosts file or any 
other DNS entry to operate.
