I have Beginner's status when handling digital picture files.

I have sent, as a sort of test, a picture file to a PC friend.

The file has been re-sized in Photoshop Elements, and saved as a
JPEG file to be sent over the net. (60 K)

It appears on my desktop with a Photoshop icon overlaid by JPEG, and
followed by the specific file name rIMGP0007.jpg.

That is what goes into the attachment box of my email client
(Emailer). The attachment requires (according to Emailer) that it
have some form of encoding. I chose the setting: Default. I leave it
uncompressed.

Once sent (to my friend,) the file arrives as a .hqx file which his
email client (Outlook Express) rejects as having "dangerous"
content.

Is there a workaround here, to be able me to send the .jpg file
without having Emailer automatically encode it in .hqx?

Sheafe
