Sheafe,

The Default encoding is whatever you have selected in 
Setup-Account-Options-Default Encoding. I have mine set at Apple Double 
and generally speaking, both PC and Mac users can open the files. The 
exception is that I have to use Base 64 for most AOL users, although not 
for my daughter even though she uses AOL. (Don't ask me?)

I have two friends using Outlook Express on the PC, and both of them have 
reported the same problem. Any attachment, text or photo, that I send 
them gets screened as dangerous. I think the problem is with your friend 
rather than you, as both of my friends talked to their ISP tech support 
and finally figured out a way to solve the problem.

I think the ultimate solution would be to find a way to erase Outlook 
Express from all computers on earth, but I doubt we can get it done soon.
