Yup, that would have been around 1998/1999 when I joined the list.

I remember when the AOL y2k issues cropped up, and the "pros" developed a 
hack to fix it. The hack was over zealous and broke attachment encoding. 
I tracked down exactly which part of the hack had to be installed to fix 
the y2k issue and NOT break file encoding... but since I was a newbie and 
had done little but lurk until then, all of the "pros" doubted I was 
right and wouldn't listen.

Later one of them either also figured it out, or actually followed my 
directions, realized I was right, and suddenly everyone was willing to 
listen rather than scream doom for Emailer. (and of course, not much 
longer after that AOL fixed the problem on their end, removing the need 
for the hack).

Ahh, those were the days :-)
