Why Jobs killed Window shading is still a mystery. There is no way to 
temporarily reduce an OS X window to a thumbnail, without affecting all 
other windows. Can't they see this is a needed feature? WindowShading may 
be "crude", but until a superior option is available (like a white button 
next to the green that makes a mini=thumbnail of the window, or 
something), windowshading is the best, most efficient option for keeping 
a window on top, while moving around/behind it. ;-(

The box said 'Requires Windows 95, or better.' So I bought a Macintosh.
