Just a quick update.

I just got an eMac Friday for my office. I am setting it up today, and
sure enough, the default setup of OS X not only doesn't have OS 9 present
(like I said), but also does NOT have the Classic System Pref or
subsystem installed (unlike what I said).

So I was wrong. Classic has been removed from the default bundles of OS
10.4 on new machines. However, it still appears to be installed as part
of the default installation of retail 10.4 (or at least the developer
version, which I believe is the same as the retail version). OS 9 is
still not installed, nor is it even included with the retail 10.4
installers (well, again, at least not with the developer version).

This does NOT bode well to Classic being included at all with 10.5
regardless of use on a PPC or not (we all know it won't exist for Intel
either way). So 10.4 may possibly be the last OS version that Emailer
will work with.

I guess that means sometime after the end of 2006, people will have to
start considering where they want to go in terms of email support the
next time they buy a new machine (or just hang onto an old laptop to run
it... I'd guess by Dec 2006, early G3 laptops will be under $100)

BTW: does anyone have an OS X version of codewarrior they aren't using
and would be willing to give/loan to me? Need not be the latest version,
just any version that can compile OS X native apps (maybe someone has a
version they have upgraded and the old one is just collecting dust on a
shelf).
