I don' t think this is a Classic issue, as Emailer can do the same
thing when running under OS 8 and 9 (and maybe earlier as well). If
the connection is up, but not working correctly, Emailer will error
out on connecting to a server, and then refuse to try again until the
machine is rebooted.
It seems Emailer gets something stuck in some kind of a cache that it
can't clear. Quitting Emailer doesn't fix it, a reboot is always
necessary.
Your problem sounds like it may be the same problem.
Sometimes, I cannot send email out, because of SMTP firewalls. Some
people have fixes/workarounds for this, but I have not found one
for my
situations.
You've probably told me before, but refresh my memory... what is your
issue on this?
