I'm actively working on getting LinuxCNC driving my RepRap (look for questions on the user list soon). IMHO, one *BIG* potential market where LinuxCNC can be shown to be superior is controlling the new flavor of delta-arm RepRap printers, like the Rostock: http://reprap.org/wiki/Rostock ...the math is getting to be a bit much for the AVR used to control most of the 3D printers, and while lots of folks are excited about the idea of switching to an Arm board like the Raspberry Pi, they're rapidly finding out that despite the extra CPU speed they don't work well for real-time control.
