A good memory, something that isn't so short term good anymore, helps a
lot.

They knew how to do the workaround and didn't want to bother the boss with
such piddly stuff. Its a basic truism in almost any efficiently managed
scenario.

Its not the first time, and it sure won't be the last time something like
that happens. The only thing I'd comment on is making sure those comm
channels are open so you do hear about it when things like that are
starting to get under their skin. Coffee break pep talk about the office
door always being open, whatever. OTOH it's your shop and I should just
shut up I guess. As the CE of a tv station, I can testify that it is
quite a balancing act to be able to lay down the law according to the
commission or the care and feeding of equipment AND remain friends with
everyone involved.

A fine line I'll readily admit I fell off of several times, and was once
solved by the termination of one of the news depts long time employees
whose main effort seemed to be get the story even if you have to break
equipment. And she broke a lot of it.

Flowers appreciated, thanks. And TBT, its one of the reasons that while I
don't call myself a developer, I do haunt this list. I am just another
resource with several decades of experience chasing electrons here and
there to do work.

Cheers, Gene Heskett
