Clause 1.7.7.2 of EN 60950 is titled "Terminals for external primary power
supply conductors" and states the following:
"For permanently connected equipment and equipment with ordinary
non-detachable power supply cords:"
"- terminals intended exclusively for connection of the primary
power neutral conductor, if any, shall be indicated by the capital letter N;
and"
"- on three-phase equipment, if incorrect phase rotation could
cause overheating or other hazard, terminals intended for connection of the
primary power phase conductors shall be marked in such a way that, in
conjunction with any installation instructions, the sequence of phase
rotation is unambiguous."
"These indications shall not be placed on screws, or other parts which might
be removed when conductors are being connected."
Clause 5.1.6 of IEC 1010-1 is titled "Terminals and operating devices" and
has the following statement:
"Terminals for connection to the mains supply shall be identifiable."
En 60950 is the European standard for Information Technology Equipment.
IEC 1010-1 is the international standard for test equipment.
I cannot find anything in either standard about marking an "L" for Line.
There is always a requirement for marking the Protective Conductor Terminal,
so if the N is also marked then the other terminal apparently is assumed to
be for the Line connection.

Does anyone know the clause or statement that identifies "L" for
Line voltage and "N" for Neutral A.C. mains marking in the LVD or any EU
standard published? I need to provide proof for our engineering team.
