Joe, the Directives will not state these kinds of things. You need to look
at the particular standard and see what is says. In general, Markings such
as L and N are only required for devices that are not cord connected. Cord
connected devices do not require such markings

Hi Group,

Does anyone know the clause or statement that identifies "L"  for Line
voltage and "N" for Neutral A.C. mains marking in the LVD or any EU
standard published?  I need to provide proof for our engineering team.
