I my years working at UL and working with them since, it was ever abundantly and adamantly maintained (by UL's FUS Label Services group) that the Control Number is a required part of the Listing Mark and there is no substitution for it. The UL File No. may be used as a substitution the for company identification, in the ilk of a trademark or tradename.
