Andy: I have used Miteq octave band pre-amps, typically 1-2 GHz, 2-4 GHz, 4-8 GHz & 8-18 GHz. Trouble is, when you add up the cost of a whole set, you are right in the neighborhood of an HP-8449B! At least with the Miteq's, you can buy them one at a time, spreading the expenditure over time.
