Hi Joe, My recommendation would be to create a simple document in list form as follows:
list applicable standards identify key deliverables, such as test unit and special test hardware and software. The test software can cause critical path setbacks. For example, the EUT works as intended, but the standard may call for something like stopping the hop on a band-edge. The product does not ordinarily operate in this mode so the design center did not provide the "test" software. Now there is a delay in the test start date. If the design center is an OEM, you really need to coordinate carefully. Similar situation exists for any special fixturing. How do you monitor multiple ports simultaneously for immunity tests? The test software and hardware may be considered overhead, but necessary. The testing can't be scheduled and executed without it. Just my 2 cents worth.
