The effect of using different fuses on the safety of the unit for the end-user
should be validated by empirical test data. 

Depending on the NRTL and/or NCB that has issued recognition or certification,
and how the component is described in the TCF or CDF, you may have to submit
as an alternate construction.

If the fuse is user-replaceable, the Product Safety Engineer should test the
unit using various fuses of same ratings, as stated on unit's labels and in
the installation instructions, where other parameters are not similar. Not
necessarily required by most safety standards in the LVD, but just a good "due
diligence" thing to do...

Typically, a CB, CDF, or FUS report will only have the fuse's "basic" ratings
and agency recognitions.

Good day all, 
I have a question regarding fuses and their interchangeability relative to 
EN61010. 

If I want to substitute a 1.6A, 250VAC,slow-blow, with the same opening 
time, 
same Interrupting Rating, VDE, UL, SEMKO approved fuse with another 
with the same ratings and approvals EXCEPT that the nominal cold resistance 
and 
nominal melting temperatures are slightly different (one more specifically 
designed for surge) 
is this interchange allowed under 61010?  I can find no test or 
specification that would be 
influenced by this.  The overload test should respond much the same. 

Any insight would be appreciated
