It says: Article 17 Entry into force This Directive shall enter into force on the twentieth day after its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The URL given here was to the actual OJEC entry, dated 31:12:2004, so the Directive itself comes into force on 20 January. A Directive is addressed to *governments*, so it is telling the governments to start modifying, from that date, their own laws that implement the existing Directive, a process that must be completed by the 2007 date. -- Regards, John Woodgate, OOO - Own Opinions Only. The bad news is that everything is prohibited. http://www.jmwa.demon.co.uk Also see http://www.isce.org.uk This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
