Your statement would be true with laptops w/o analog modem ports, however, Article 800-4 of the NEC states: "800.4 Equipment. Equipment intended to be electrically connected to a telecommunications network shall be listed for the purpose." I am sure that most of us are already aware of this requirement. I just thought I'd mention it.
