I have an old IEC document from 1982 with an IEC symbol. (It is IEC 297-2
to be exact.) The symbol has a square border with the "C" reaching close
to the sides of the square. A capital "E" is centered inside of the "C"
and a lower case "i" is interwoven through the three horizontal bar of the
"E".

A similar version is available on a copy of a 1981 IEC Bulletin. The copy
on my standard uses straight lines for the "I" and "E" and is less
stylized.

Good People,

Is there such a thing as an 'IEC' symbol (no, not the 417 stuff).

I am looking at a component that has a mark similar to the CSA logo, but
the 'inner' characters of the logo are 'I' and 'E'.

The project engineer claims that is an approval symbol. Does this mark
mean anything ?

luck,
Brian
