Scott:

IEC 60065 still restricts the use of the IEC 60417-5008 (“O”) symbol to
all pole mains switches, clause 5.4.2 c states “Marking of the off-position
by the relevant symbol according to 60417-5008 or according to IEC 60417-5010
is permitted only for an all poles MAIN SWICH which interrupts all poles of
the MAINS supply except the protective earth.”

In the past we have used switches which simple mark the on position with a dot
or period “.”.
