I am struggling a bit with components – when they are excluded and when they are not. I understand, for example, that a transformer would need to be CE marked (clause 9, 4th paragraph). Does this apply to just external transformers, such as ac to ac power adapters? Or does this apply to custom made transformers to be used internally as part of an overall circuit in the same area that includes other basic components such as capacitors, resistors, and inductors? It would seem logical that it would not apply to internal transformers as these are not user replacement parts such as light bulbs or fuses, and additional assessment is required within its intended application to determine host product compliance with the harmonized standard. What is your understanding regarding the CE marking of transformers per the LVD? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
