Entering new buttons in the dashboard can be a big problem. We all know that the GUI of a car has
been designed years ago, so any driver can adapt to a different car without thinking. A new <Kill> button, or worse <system reset> button will lead to confusion , especially with the new gamers generation of young drivers. Not to speak about a button labeled <Ignition on/off> 10-9-8-7-6….. To stay familiar and alowo drivers to solve software and EMI Problesm quickly and intuitively, why not a install small LCD screen on the dashboard with a GUI <start> button when clicked upon with a mobile mouse allows to select for <shut down> : why buy a car if you want it to shut down ? <hibernate> : for the cold states you were mentioning <restart> : in case of a “Toyota” runaway <shut down and install updates> : after a runaway crash <stand by> : when eating your mobile whopper <log off…> : if you need to change driver Not as funny as the one I was inspired by “GM to Bill Gates” http://www.snopes.com/humor/jokes/autos.asp I know it’s an old one, but oh so appropriate since cars get Into the same trouble as windows…. Also, some states require the use of hazard lights if traveling slowly in the lane. I like the idea of a "kill" button in the middle of the dash!! Or how about a "system reset" button? :-) Ken ___________________ Kenneth Wyatt Wyatt Technical Services LLC Woodland Park, CO [email protected] www.emc-seminars.com On Feb 25, 2010, at 10:27 AM, Ralph McDiarmid wrote: Since it's already a prominent feature on most dashboards, perhaps the 'hazard indicator' button should be linked to the ignition so that the engine will not run when it's pushed. _______________________________________ _____________________________________________ Ralph McDiarmid | Schneider Electric | Renewable Energies Business | CANADA | From: John Woodgate <[email protected]> To: [email protected] List-Post: [email protected] List-Post: [email protected] List-Post: [email protected] Date: 02/25/2010 02:17 AM Subject: Re: [PSES] Toyota ________________________________ In message <[email protected]>, dated Wed, 24 Feb 2010, Bill Owsley <[email protected]> writes: >Oh, I forgot our industrial designers that won't be able to stand any >such atrocity looking like a giant pimple in the middle of the >beautiful face (of death) Well, my Volvo has one, but it only puts the indicators into hazard mode.
