Since it's already a prominent feature on most dashboards, perhaps the 'hazard
indicator' button should be linked to the ignition so that the engine will not
run when it's pushed.

Well, my Volvo has one, but it only puts the indicators into hazard 
mode. Luckily, the throttle is mechanically controlled. They don't make 
'em like they used to!
