EMC2 will not automatically update major revisions, such as from version
2.1.x to version 2.2.x.  It will update minor revs, such as from 2.1.3
to 2.1.4.  We avoid making changes on a minor rev that will require you
to change your configuration.  If your config worked with the old
version, it should work with the new one as well.

One possibility is as Jon suggested - if you edited one of the sample
configs in place instead of making a copy for your machine, the update
might have replaced your edits.
