3m/second?  Methinks that cannot be anything but a typo.  That of course isn't 
relativistic, but would sure be ballistic.  That would be nearly 10 feet a 
second in my native measurement system.

Depending on the base period, it could be that the cpu is too busy with the 
base period and doesn't detect the key up for quite a few milliseconds, which 
means there isn't any way to stop it dead in its tracks.  And, moving at that 
speed, a realtime stop from the stated velocity would scoot even a 450 pound 
Saig X3 across the benchtop several inches, making a pretty good banging 
noise too.
