I was joking Jon... :-) But seriously, there really should be some decent space available that isn't located on top of ice!
Detroit has always been a boom and bust town with the Auto business. It used to go full tilt for 10 years and then there would be a few years of a slowdown and then another 10 years full tilt, etc. This time is entirely different. There are a lot of skilled shops in the Detroit area still, but the last time I drove down the service drive along I-96 in Livonia, not far from where I grew up, I counted 25 for sale or lease signs on industrial/commercial buildings on the south side of the service drive in a distance of less than 1/2 a mile. Those businesses no longer exist. Wind Energy will never replace what has been lost in Detroit. Wind energy is very much a niche business with high capital costs to get into it. I have bid some wind jobs and GE and Siemens and a few other companies with deep pockets have most of that business cornered. That and the fact that wind energy is not viable economically without gov subsidies and it does not make for a good story economically. If Picken's can't make it work, then I am not sure who can. Here is Pickens ..... btw, if you want to buy a bunch of GE wind turbines, Pickens would like to sell a bunch. http://video.forbes.com/fvn/ini/about-those-wind-turbines?partner=embed Dave Jon Elson wrote: > Dave wrote: > >> As far as I know the Pontiac SilverDome is still standing and pretty much >> empty most of the time. >> >> Look below, it is going to auction with n_o reserve_ in November! >> >> This is from Wikipedia! >> >> They could buy it!! ;-) >> >> > No, NAMES is actually a VERY small organization, with a very limited > budget.
