Well, sure, the big companies do the design and final assembly, but they have to subcontract a huge amount of stuff out to modest firms that specialize in all sorts of things. There are gearboxes, rotor hubs, blades, control systems, welding, and on and on. Wind is going to get more economical as other fuels get more expensive for a variety of reasons.
