Thanks for the good information. There is an MV Jr on ebay right now with a non-
functioning controller. I bought my Kasuga as a running machine, and as you 
suggested, there were few surprises. But eventual breakdowns forced the EMC 
conversion on me. Now it is a reliable & accurate machine, and I am very 
happy/productive with it.

I checked out that photo again and noticed that the machine is positioned 
directly under a skylight. It looks as if you turned the problem of height 
clearance into a  natural lighting "feature". Very elegant solution!
