Ahh, but which sd* is it: From dmesg when I plug in the reader:

Then I plug this microSDHC card into the reader, its led comes on, but no
further data appears in the next dmesg until many seconds later when it
adds this:

I am beginning to think I might have a duff card. But I'll move it to a
direct motherboard usb port just for S&G. It was plugged into a more
convenient to reach USB-2.0 hub.

Plugging the whole thing into a direct usb port fiddles around trying to
find something for a couple of minutes, but winds up looking like this in
dmesg:

ehci_hcd 0000:00:02.1: port 5 full speed --> companion
ehci_hcd 0000:00:02.1: GetStatus port:5 status 003001 0  ACK POWER OWNER

hub 1-0:1.0: logical disconnect on port 5
hub 1-0:1.0: state 7 ports 10 chg 0020 evt 0020

Thanks & Cheers Mark, Gene
