In that case, for the information of all the new users or anyone else,
who has not discovered it yet or read it in manual.
The way to access LinuxCNC sample configs:

Open "Applications" menu in the upper left corner of Ubuntu desktop screen.
There is CNC subcategory, select it.
There are:
1) all the manuals, quick g-code reference and other materials that
can provide useful information;
2) Stepconf wizard and Pncconf - 2 tools that can be used to create
machine setup;
3) and finally, there is LinuxCNC - button to open this application -
select it to access window, where You can select either Your existing
configurations or any of the sample configs that are available. There
is a small check-box on the bottom to add desktop shortcut for
LinuxCNC to open a particular machine configuration.

Please, anyone, who has not yet done that, take a look at the list of
sample configs provided! They are there either as a reference, but
more importantly, as a starting point for any kind of machine
configuration by customizing them. This is the exact way I have been
doing on the machines I am building (often I do not even change the
names of the files, only the name of directory).

Selecting any sample config means that it is copied to the "configs"
directory, so user is free to change and modify it, it will not affect
the "original source" of particular sample config.
