The swarf would have to be pretty darn hot and sit on the Lexan long enough to 
melt into it to cause a problem.

Even if you were turning red hot, the mass of the Lexan would pull heat from 
the little pieces quite quickly, if they managed to stick.

Polycarbonate is used as a protective sheet over welding helmet glass shade 
lenses. Hot spatter can embed in the plastic if it doesn't chill and bounce 
off. When it gets to gunked up to see through, replace it.
