Looking at the code, it really does only seem to understand XYZ axes.
I wonder who wrote it? It has a Proctor/Shackleford attribution but I
am not sure that is definitive.

I suspect that it could be expanded to 9 axes with just copy and
paste, it is just a single FORTRAN++ file :-)
