I finally updated my desktop machine when I realized it was 
bought
used and ran for 12 years straight!  I just updated the 
machine that
runs my Bridgeport mill, it was set up in 2005 I think, and 
only updated
once or twice since then.  Finally, I wanted to add 
something that
required an update to the PC hardware.  (A centering camera 
using
the camview add-on to LinuxCNC.  The old PC had USB1 and 
would be
WAY too slow, if it even worked with a camera.)

BUT, LinuxCNC has really made big strides in the past few years.
A number of REAL errors have been fixed, as well as adding many
capabilities.
