Thanks, TJoseph, those are useful links with some good info. I have both of the Ben Fleming books. I also saw a very nice small edm at the recent Model Engineering Exhibition at Alexandra Palace in London, a couple of weeks ago. It was on the stand of the Society of Model and Experimental Engineers. It all adds to the impetus to move the edm a little further up the (very long) ToDo list.
