I just doubled it, might have helped but the huge windup is still there. Running at 300 requested rpms, a reversal dsoes a rather leasurely stop, then comes back up at about 50 rpms, (either direction)and takes 5 seconds to get back to speed, Igain is currently 0.5. With the same command reversal shaping that reversed it, to the selected speed, in 400ms at 1000 rpms before I started playing. > > > What I need for such monkey business is a precision version of the > > old fashioned carpenters brace chuck > > I do 80% of my threading with a cordless drill. Yours must have a better handle, mine can twist enough to break the tap if it should touch the bottom of the hole. This safety lock ring for the bigger chuck should be done yet today, I'm putting the finishing touches on the counterbore to hide the heads of a couple 5mm by 20 long screws in the center of the band opposite the 1/8th wide cut to allow the draw bolt to tighten it on the OD of the spindle flange, the back of which rides the face of the front bearing, that, and the drill and tap + counterbore for the drawbolt, and it will be ready to go back on the lathe to finish cutting out the 69.2mm central disk, which I left about 20 thou of in to brace it against the milling machines work while I installed the mounting screws. I also need to machine a 5mm larger area on the back face so it will clear the front spindle bearing since the flange I'm clamping it to is only 1/4" thick, and my alu is close to 1/2" thick. That might machine away some of the inner bits of the cap screw heads, so that will be a tad touchy to do. So I'll go back to making this FF0+Igain thing work tomorrow. But probably not before I make the switches to tally back to lcnc, which gear its in. Its a pita using the mist and flood buttons to do that as a stop program also clears those. Too many mouse clicks to get everything restarted. Thanks Andy. Cheers, Gene Heskett -- "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
