I used Tri-Cool for a while, and had issues with growth and smell. Then, I got a bottle of Encool 9 by Engineered Lubricants, a local outfit. I could leave the sump for months and have no problem with growth or smell. Really good stuff. So, there are good coolants out there. This was a flood coolant system.
