Good day Briana and all, I agree with you that COST-EFFECTIVE is always the top concern of the managing directors. When they see the quarterly report and realize they don't perform well enough,COST-CUTTING comes first to their mind.
Then, the first thing they do is to decrease staff's salaries, cut down their working hours, and if all these fail, they lay them off. They seldom consider cutting their own bonuses, perks or salaries down during crises... I was quite surprised, actually pleased to see French labourers take this matter with their own hands and lock their managers in their offices! Sometimes those who sit in the office as PEN PUSHERS need to see what hardship those in the field have to tackle every day.Don't you agree?;) It's true as you said at workplace when they need to hire some man,he'd better be married,so he won't quit easily as he will think twice before he quits that he needs to support his family, pay for the car loan or house morgage, etc. But when they need to hire some woman, she'd better be single,so she'll be more committed to her work without asking for days off to take care of their sick children or other olderly family members, etc. That's the way REALITY is...sadly to say!
