I'm not that familiar with regular expressions, so I'm shure that there are problems with it togheter with incremental seach that I don't know about. With that said, have a look at this site: http://www.rexv.org. It's a regex tester. Choose PCRE, Posix or Javascript, insert some text in the target window and then a regular expression. See how it updates automatically? That is basically incremental search, and it seems to work. I'm not shure if I'm being all that clear with this search thing, but what I'm getting at is that the firefox way is a much better way of searching than the traditionally search box. Firefox don't even have a traditionally search window, just the one at the bottom of the window. Maybe I shouldn't be talking about incremental search but instead a better search window, at the bottom of the editor, that updates the matches as you type. Better? And maybe then it's clearer that if you wan't to use this search function instead of the traditional search box, you also wan't to have access to options like "Case sensitive", Whole words only" and maybe even regular expression (i'm not 100% on that one, see above).
