Did you already install Thunderbird and Enigmail? If not, type "Thunderbird" in the Software Center and check if Thunderbird is installed. If it isn't click on the "Install" button to install it. Do the same with Enigmail, then close the Software Center. Then click on the "Ubuntu" button and type "Thunderbird" to start Thunderbird.
