Dear Ludwig, Version: Running Enigmail version 1.9.6.1 (20161116-1713) Using gpg executable C:\Program Files (x86)\GNU\GnuPG\pub\gpg2.exe to encrypt and decrypt The active gpg process is gpg-agent.exe. In so far as I know, I am indeed working with gpg2. There is no message/key request whatsoever when hitting the 'save this message' button. The relevant issue of this message is: if drafts are encrypted, how to avoid that they get lost? A critical note: If you state that "Draft encryption is automatically enabled for all accounts where Enigmail is enabled", I conclude that I can only avoid automated encryption of drafts by creating a TB account that is Enigmail disabled. Although it is a possible work-around, I find it extremely annoying. (I experienced this behaviour on earlier occasions, and it is the first time that I really lost 2 hours to recompose an important message that was lost in this way. Your explanation gives me a little beginning of an understanding now. Enigmail's choice seems somewhat patronizing to me). Thanks for advice. Roland On 06/06/2017 21:25, Ludwig

I cannot find such info under the Enigmail menu inside TB.Thunderbird menu -> Enigmail -> About EnigmailThere was no request from TB/Enigmail for a pinentry. So I did not cancel it. The encryption just happened, apparently (which I found out when I tried to edit the saved draft message, and couldn't).What happens, if you close and restart Thunderbird? Are there gpg or gpg2 processes active before you try to edit the draft? To find out, open the windows task manager and sort by application name.I am not using IMAP, so want to switch off that automatic encryption. Can I make that choice? No, you can't. Draft encryption is automatically enabled for all accounts where Enigmail is enabled. Ludwig |
