Toby, the first thing to do is search your machine for any *.desktop files.  e 
should list any of your applications that have .desktop files, like e.g.

~/.local/share/applications/urxvt.desktop

There should be default .desktop files installed with any applications under:

/usr/share/apps/...

/usr/share/applications/...

and so on, unless OpenSuse does it differently (last time I tried OpenSuse was 
a few years ago, so things would have changed since).
